Comic Artist Career

I bring you a Comic Artist Career, requested by WOE at The Land of WOE. For this career to show up in game, you’ll need Twallan’s Careers Mod:

Patch 1.29 ~ Phase Nine
Patch 1.31-1.36 ~ Phase Ten
Patch 1.38-1.39 ~ Phase Eleven
Patch 1.42-1.48 ~ Phase Twelve
Patch 1.50 ~ Phase Thirteen
Patch 1.55-1.57 ~ Phase Fourteen
Patch 1.63 ~ Phase Fifteen
Only the Base Game is needed for this career to work but it will work with expansion and stuff packs. The career was made with patch 1.33 and works with 1.33-1.63 and it should work with lower patches, although if it doesn’t, please let me know.
The career is written in English and supports Italian, French, Swedish, Spanish, Czech, Polish, German, Finnish, Portuguese and Danish translations (thanks to Serenity16, Malobali, LimeSims3, monypm, emerald_dream, ShimiChibi, Moon803, viera, Giovanna_Pires, Misling and vini for the translations!). I’ll include instructions on translating at the end.

The career is based at the Business and Journalism office. It has ten levels and focuses on the Writing and Painting skills.
There are no uniforms for this career but I may add some in the future. There are also no opportunities right now, although I am planning on adding some when I learn how!
There are two custom tones:
Jot Down Ideas, which builds the writing skill
Sketch and Doodle, which builds the painting skill.

Career Levels

1. Comic Shop Clerk ~ Everybody has to start somewhere and this is where you start. When the shop is quiet, flick through the comics on sale and see what makes them tick. Start scribbling ideas of your own in your spare time and you might get picked up to turn your scribbles into something big.
Hours: 9.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, Sat

2. Intern Artist ~ Your scribbles were noticed and you’ve been selected to create the artwork for a new comic story. It’s a great way to get your foot in the door and you didn’t even have to write the story! The pay’s not great, but it’s the first stepping stone on your journey of artistic success.
Hours: 10.00am ~ 5.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur, Fri

3. Intern Writer ~ Creating the artwork for someone else’s comic is one thing; writing the actual wording behind the pictures is something else entirely! You’re given the pictures and the storyline and your task is to put the words to the pictures. So get writing!
Hours: 10.00am ~ 5.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur, Fri

4. Letterist ~ The most underrated talent in comic creation is lettering. The fancy fonts you see in your favourite comics didn’t just appear magically on the paper; somebody was up for many nights practising and playing with fonts. Now that it’s your job, you start to appreciate those people a little more.
Hours: 9.00am ~ 5.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat

5. Colourist ~ When you close your eyes, you see black and white images, begging for colour. Well now you’re the person responsible for the colours between the black lines of the drawings. The true skill of comic creation is colouring. Just make sure to stay within the lines, or you’ll have to face one angry comic artist!
Hours: 9.00am ~ 5.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri, Sat

6. Beginner Editor ~ You’ve had plenty of experience in comic creation and now the time has come to experience the business side of your chosen career path. And what better way to make a living than to point out mistakes and order people around? Just don’t get too big for your creative boots!
Hours: 9.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur, Fri

7. Freelance Artist ~ You no longer feel trapped by working on one story for one person. You’re a freelancer and can work wherever you want (more likely, wherever the jobs are available). You’ve started getting ideas for your very own comic story, so start getting those ideas onto paper.
Hours: 2.00pm ~ 8.00pm
Days: Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat

8. Comic Artist ~ A popular comic writer has admired your drawings and has approached you to work on their next project with you. You’ve developed a personal style with your illustrations and people are starting to recognise your work!
Hours: 10.00am ~ 6.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat

9. Comic Writer ~ Your dreams of having your very own comic are coming true! You submitted your own story to a publisher and they adored it! You’re writing at every available moment and fresh ideas keep racing around your head. Keep going, you’re almost there!
Hours: 10.00am ~ 6.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat

10. Comic Star ~ You have released your creation out into the world and the public can’t get enough! Your publishing house has offered you a four series contract after you won the award for Best New Series. You have arrived with a vengeance in the comic world and soon, comic lovers everywhere will know who you are! Well done!
Hours: 2.00pm ~ 7.00pm
Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri

Thank you for all the wonderful hard work with these careers, I love them. Good job! I’m just wondering if this job can be done from home. Is there an option on the computer to “work from home?”

    • missyhissy says:

Unfortunately not. It’s only available at the rabbithole. An alternative could be to give your Comic Artist sim the ‘Workaholic’ trait – this will enable them to do some extra work at home after work hours 🙂

  2. bestistbuddy says:

    Thank you 🙂

  3. I see this fitting a lot more with “Nerd Shop”. Is lot&rabbithole/career association something I could set myself as an unitiated or would Zerbu Mod be a better option?

    • missyhissy says:

The Nerd Shop isn’t a rabbithole, so it cannot be assigned to that, unfortunately.
However, you could put a rabbithole building/rug/door on a Nerd Shop lot to simulate that environment 🙂
