Subway Maintenance Career

I bring you a Subway Maintenance Career, requested by partyanimal333 and Aurna! For this career to show up in game, you’ll need Twallan’s Careers Mod:

Patch 1.29 ~ Phase Nine
Patch 1.31-1.36 ~ Phase Ten
Patch 1.38-1.39 ~ Phase Eleven
Patch 1.42-1.48 ~ Phase Twelve
Patch 1.50 ~ Phase Thirteen
Patch 1.55-1.57 ~ Phase Fourteen
Patch 1.63-1.67 ~ Phase Fifteen
It was made with patch 1.63 and should work on all patch levels, although if it doesn’t, please let me know.
The career is in English, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese (Thanks to Denise and vini for the translations). I’ll include translation instructions at the end.

The career is based at the Subway station and as such, will require Late Night. So please be sure to have a subway station in your world for the career to show up. It has six levels and focuses on the Charisma, Handiness and Athletic skills.
There are no uniforms for this career. You can edit career outfits with patch 1.31 and above, so I highly suggest using this feature to give your Sims a uniform of your own choosing :)
Right now, there are no opportunities. I am going to be attempting this soon, so watch this space!
There is one custom tone; Tinker with Engines, which builds the Handiness skill.
Elder sims can retire from this career.

Career Levels

1. Janitor ~ The station can look filthy if it’s not cleaned every day. Not everyone appears to understand what a rubbish bin is for and sweet wrappers, drinks cans and fast food boxes carpet the platform. So early every morning, you go out and sweep the rubbish up off the ground and tip it in the bin. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? You’d be surprised how it can lift a mood when commuters can step onto a shiny scrubbed platform.
Hours: 5.00am ~ 10.00am
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

2.  Ticket Inspector  ~ Before anyone can set foot on the subway train, they need to have purchased a ticket. You can’t have someone riding the subway without paying for it, now can you? So it’s entirely up to you to be certain every passenger has their ticket inspected before boarding the subway.
Hours:  8.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

3. Information Announcer ~ In order for passengers to catch the right subway train, somebody needs to announce the arrivals and departures. And that’s where you come in. Admittedly, very few people can understand what you’re saying, and will probably catch the wrong trains anyway, but it’s not your fault the station has poor sound systems, now is it?
Hours:  8.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

4. Security Guard ~ From time to time, the occasional rascal will attempt to sneak on board without their ticket. If they cause the Ticket Inspectors trouble, it’s you they’ll send for. You’ll need a strong grip to take the troublemakers away without too much of a scene to disrupt the commuters.
Hours: 8.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

5. Subway Engineer ~ The trains can’t operate if they’re not maintained or repaired regularly. And if the trains aren’t operating, hundreds of commuters will be stranded with limited alternatives to transport. So grab that wrench and check those engines, because the fates of the working masses rely on you!
Hours: 5.00am ~ 10.00am
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
6. Driver ~ You’ve worked your way to becoming the driver and now the glory is yours. As long as you keep a sensible speed, you’ll be the man/woman to steer the workforce to their places of business every day and deliver them safely to their home stations at the end of thr working day. The route may get monotonous, so put in for a transfer every now and again if you feel a little stir crazy on the same route.
Hours: 8.00am ~ 4.00pm
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

I’m not fluent enough in any other languages to translate, so if you’re interested in translating this career into your language, then please download this Language Strings file and open the file up in Notepad.

Do that for the entire file, then email me your translation to: and let me know which language you’re translating to. :)
