Toy Maker Career & Apprenticeship

Base Game Ambitions University Life

Merry Christmas everyone!

This was originally planned for release last Christmas but unfortunately I didn’t have it ready in time. However it’s all raring to go this year! This is the Toy Maker Career and its corresponding Apprenticeship!
You’ll need the Nraas Careers Mod for the career to show up.

You will need Ambitions and University for this career to work as intended. This career was made with Patch 1.69 and is in English and supports translations in French, Dutch and German. If you’re interested in translating this career, there are instructions at the bottom of the page.

The career is based at the City Hall and has ten levels. To change the designated rabbithole to suit your own requirements, I have a tutorial HERE for you to follow.
There are uniforms for this career. You can edit career outfits with Patch 1.31 and above, so I highly suggest using this feature to give your Sims a uniform of your own choosing.
There are 12 Opportunities available. Details of these opportunities can be found Here.
Your Sim may receive a bonus on Snowflake Day if Seasons is installed.
There is no boss for level 10 of the career. For other levels, Bosses can be controlled using Master Controller.
There are two custom tones:
Practice Making Toys, which builds the Handiness and Inventing skills
Paint Toys, which builds the Painting skill.

The Apprenticeship is for Teens only and is based at the City Hall and has three levels. It focuses on the Handiness and Inventing skills. It promotes into the Toy Maker Career. The Apprenticeship is in English and supports translations in French, Dutch and German.
There are two custom tones:
Test Toys, which builds the Handiness and Inventing skills
Sit Exam, which boosts overall performance.

The Career

1. Stock Control Officer – A fancy name for a not-so-fancy job. It may be boring but toys can’t be made without all the necessary components, so it’s really important not to run out of anything.
M,T,W,F,S
§12/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

2. Safety Checker – Your promotion to Safety Checker means you have to study the safety regulations and assure your boss that every toy created passes. After all, you don’t really want a jack-in-the-box to become a jack-out-of-the-box, now do you?
M,T,W,F,S
§24/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

3. Toy Tester – The finished toys have passed the safety checks but they still need to be thoroughly tested to be sure they work as intended. It’s a very stressful job if you don’t like toys, but how much hardship is it really, to play with new toys? Let the fun begin!
M,T,W,F,S
§40/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

4. Woodworker – You’ve started actually making toys now! Working with wood is essential for simple and complex toys, but some basic first-aid knowledge might not be a bad idea. That sander can look pretty vicious at times!
M,T,W,F,S
§65/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

5. Metalworker – Moving on from cutting, shaping and smoothing wood; you’re working with metal! Many components of toys are made of metal and knowing how to cut metal safely and work with it can be fun – honestly!
M,T,W,F,S
§90/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

6. Painter – Every toy needs painting to really finish them off. Colour is important, especially for young children, and it’s often colours that define a child’s favourite toy. Put your painting skills to good use as you lavishly decorate the toys!
M,T,W,F,S
§125/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

7. Mechanical Engineer – Some toys, such as that new line of remote-controlled toys, have mechanisms and it’s your job to see that they work properly and as intended. This requires some amount of testing the motors and mechanisms, but if you’re really dedicated to producing quality toys, you’ll still love it.
M,T,W,F,S
§160/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

8. Designer – You’ve worked through every stage of creating the toys that the children in town are playing with. But now it’s your turn to be the brains behind the new inventions! All hand-made toys need plans to be drawn, so grab that pencil or run that computer programme and get planning!
T,W,R,F
§230/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

9. Floor Manager – The boss has opened a new floor to the factory and, because of your dedication to creating the quality toys the company has become renowned for, you’ve been asked to be the Floor Manager! At times, you may feel a little disconnected from the creation of the toys, so make sure you still involve yourself at every step!
M,T,W,F,S
§290/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

10. Top Toy Maker – You did it! The toys are back in town! Your company makes the best toys in town and it’s all down to you. You’re the town’s Top Toy Maker! With this title, you can continue to create top quality and fun toys for the children of the town, and maybe even branch out to the big cities of the Simming world! Congratulations!
T,W,R,F
§350/hour
9.00am – 5.00pm

The Apprenticeship

1. Intermediate: Stock Checker – The qualified toy makers have completed many toys and there are dozens of orders placed with the company for toys to be sent all over [TownName]. It’s up to you to make sure the right toys are in stock!
M,T,W,R,F
§10/hour
4.00pm – 7.00pm

2. Advanced: Safety Advisor – You’ve earned the title of Safety Advisor. Every toy created to be sold must adhere to the Safety Regulations and since you’ve been taught them day in, day out you should be able to assist in an advisory capacity. Just don’t get too cocky.
M,T,W,R,F
§15/hour
4.00pm – 7.00pm

3. Higher: Toy Designer – You’ve reached the final leg of your Toy Making Apprenticeship and your new title is that of a Toy Designer. You won’t actually be designing toys to be made just yet but you’re getting plenty of practice in. Keep up the good work, you’ve reached the top! Congratulations on your dedication!
M,T,W,R,F
§20/hour
4.00pm – 7.00pm
