So I get a series of questions sent to me all the time, so I’ll clear up a couple of frequent questions here.
Q. How do I install the careers?
A. If you don’t already have it, download the Mods/Packages framework from Mod the Sims. Once you’ve followed that, download Twallan’s Careers mod and place that in the Packages folder. Then download my career, extract the file and put that into the Packages folder too.
Q. My Sim refuses to go to work! The carpool comes and they cancel the interaction out instantly!
A. Since patch 1.31, some career outfits have to be “reset”. This only seems to happen on levels when there is no career outfit/uniform set. To solve this, edit your sim in CAS and set a career outfit. Make sure to only edit the second career outfit, otherwise it will happen again when your Sim is promoted.
Q. I can’t find the career in game!
A. This could be one of two things. First, be certain you have the correct version of Twallan’s Careers mod to suit your patch level and that you don’t have an outdated version also installed. If all is correct there, then check you’re looking at the right rabbithole building. I always state which building the career will appear on.
Q. Will this career work on Patch 1.67?
A. Yes, it will. Providing you have the correct version of the NRass Careers Mod, it will work.
Q. Do I really need all the expansions listed for the career to work?
A. If I mention you need certain expansions, then it’s very likely you will. The only exception for this will be if the expansion is only required for the uniforms. I usually state this, but it’s often better to err on the side of caution.
Q. Can you write a tutorial for making the careers?
A. I have a tutorial written up on MissyHissy’s Job Centre Forum. I’ve also got a series of smaller tutorials and resources for creating careers.
Q. Does the career react with the Academic Degrees from The Sims 3 University Life?
A. As it stands right now, no. I do have a mod in the making for this, it just requires testing.
Q. Are you considering converting your Sims 2 Majors (Harry Potter Series) to Sims 3?
A. I’d love to. I’ve yet to get a custom degree working but when I do, this will be a project I’ll have high on my list.
